Every year millions of people apply for permanent residence in the United States. Through family
The vast majority of Green Card for Indians recipients obtain it this way. Of the 2018 total, 44% were immediate relatives of US citizens; another 20% were relatives with limited admission.
To obtain it, Form I-130 is filed with USCIS. Those who are unmarried children (under 21 years of age) or spouses of a US citizen are eligible. There are also visas that can be requested by parents or siblings, but they take longer to process because they are not a priority.
Through employment
It is granted at the request of a company or organization. The selected ones are those who show exceptional skills in science, arts, education, business, or athletics. Also, those who are professors or researchers.
Special immigrant
Green Card processing facilities are available to religious workers who come to the United States to work in a non-profit organization, minors who need protection from the Court, representatives of international media, and retired officials or employees of an eligible international organization.
Diversity visa
The diversity visa program was created in 1990 to receive immigrants from countries that, historically, have had very low rates of immigration to the United States. The program is also known as the visa lottery because the people chosen to obtain a Green Card are randomly selected from the list of eligible who pre-register.

“If you’ve had continuous residence in the USA before 1 January 1972 you may be eligible to register for a Green Card,” USCIS explains. However, it is important that you have a timely payment of taxes and no problems with the authorities.
