J D Chakravarthy, also known as Nagulapati Srinivasa Chakravarthy, is an Indian actor, screenwriter, director, producer, composer, and vocalist who has worked in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada films. Chakravarthy made his cinematic debut in Ram Gopal Varma’s Telugu action hit Siva, which debuted at India’s 13th International Film Festival. After that, he made his Bollywood debut with Shiva, a remake of the same film (1990).

J.D. Chakravarthy was born in a Telugu Brahmin family in the year 1970 in Hyderabad. Retired Professor Dr. Kovela Santa, a Carnatic vocalist, was his father. He attended St. George’s Grammar School in Hyderabad and earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology. He married to Lucknow-based girl named Anukriti Govind Sharmaon August 18, 2016. It was a private wedding.

He made his Telugu cinema debut in 1989 as J.D. in Ram Gopal Verma’s Siva. Satya was his debut Hindi film as a hero and his most famous part to date, which exploded into screens on July 3rd, 1998. He has also featured in a few Telugu films directed and/or produced by very famous Ram Gopal Verma. Satya received positive reviews, although it was panned for its graphic depiction of violence. It was hailed as one of Bollywood’s most underappreciated films, as well as Ram Gopal Verma’s truest and finest work to date.
Mani Ratnam, Krishna Vamsi, K. Raghavendra Rao, Kodi Ramakrishna, S. V. Krishna Reddy, E. V. V. Satyanarayana, Gunasekhar, Shiva Nageswara Rao, and Vamsy are among the Telugu cinema directors he has worked with.
