He was one of the best actors of his time. He made his film debut with the movie Bhakta Shabari (1959) but his movie Daivabalam (1959) was released at the box office earlier than that. He has won several awards for his movies which include five state Nandi Awards for Best Actor and four Filmfare Awards for Best Telugu Actor.

SobhanBabu was born on 14 January 1937 in Krishna District, Madras Presidency, British India (now Andhra Pradesh, India). He was also known as ‘Natabhushana’. In SobhanBabu’s family, his father’s name was Uppu Suryanarayana Rao and he has four siblings – three sisters whose names were Dhanaranga, Jhansi, and Nirmala and a brother named Sambasiva Rao.
SobhanBabu’s wife’s name was Santha Kumari and he was married to her on 15 May 1958. They had a son and three daughters.
SobhanBabu died on 20 March 2008 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He was 71 years old when he died. He died due to a heart attack.
